For many years now, Terrigal has been a popular destination for Sydney people looking to have a short break away in a sensational seaside location. Terrigal is located on the New South Wales Central Coast about one hour drive north from Sydney along an excellent expressway. It has a magnificent beach and top of the range accommodation options that range from quality motels through to five star resorts.
The southern end of Terrigal Beach is protected from the prevailing south easterly winds and swells by a high headland known as the Skillion. In its lee is an almost calm water beach and boat ramp that faces to the north. This makes this area a magnet for families with kids and boaties alike. The boat ramp is always buzzing with fishermen loading and unloading their boats and their catch. The point that is created by the Skillion produces a fantastic point surf when the south easterly starts to blow and it is known as one of the coasts hot surfing spots. Divers and snorkelers also love the clear water around the rocks on the headland. The esplanade area that runs along the Terrigal beach is home to a delightful village like shopping area that is full of restaurants and cafes as well as some excellent clothing boutiques.
There is also a good range of quality accommodation right on the beachfront in this spectacular location. There is a huge resort which is accompanied by several good mid range motels. There are also self catering apartment style complexes that are excellent for families and groups. Terrigal also has an excellent golf course that welcomes visitors. Just to the south of Terrigal is Avoca Beach and Copacabana and to the north the beach is unbroken though it changes its name first to Wamberal beach and then to McMasters Beach. This gives a wide range of surfing opportunities depending on weather conditions and also provides a wonderful location for a long afternoon beach walk. If you want a place close to Sydney that provides a holiday atmosphere coupled with sophisticated accommodation and restaurants then come to Terrigal for a great time away.
